JaShawn Davison

WAGONER BULLDOGS

BOYS

Coach: Dante Swanson

22-23 Record: 17-8

With an “in your face” level of intensity, the Bulldogs lineup will continue to play fast on both ends of the court while overcoming any lack of size. It’s still a young group by grade; however, head coach Dante Swanson says his team won’t make any excuses. “We can’t talk about being young anymore; even though our rotation of players will be underclassmen, they’ve been in the heat of battle,” said Swanson. “Between last year’s games or in the offseason, there’s no situation we haven’t been in before.

Because of the game time experience, we can play fast and make great decisions.” VYPE Top 100 nominee JaShawn Davison (5-8, Jr.), who coach Swanson called a “gym rat” makes the most of every opportunity evidenced by his 15.4 points per game scoring clip. Defined as the most athletic player on the roster, Dante Swanson (5-10, Jr.) attacks every possession with an aggressive flair of athleticism and Matson Swanson (5-10, Jr.) displays his maturity and aggressive style of play will return to a starter’s role. Other players who bring real time experience and energy to the Bulldogs fast paced style of play will be Eedrick Johnson (5-8, Jr.), Shaun Atkins (5-10, Sr.), Jeffery Faulk (5-9, Jr.) along with Alex Shieldnight (6-3, Jr.), Davonte Gray (5-7,Sr.), Davion McNack (5-9, Jr.), Dalen Johnson (5-8 Jr.) along with a quintet of sophomores eager to compete for playing time including Stevie Brown (5-7, So.), Sebastian McCoy (6-2, So.), Dacaden Ford (5-8, So.), Ryan Atkins (6-0, So.) and Aven Goodlin (5-9, So.) “We’ll need to rebound as a team and then push the tempo,” said Swanson, who will welcome the return of team members from the football team.“For a group of young players, our basketball IQ is strong, and our fast-paced style of play allows us to compete even though we’re not that big.”
