Wagoner’s Kale Charboneau – Football Spotlight – Presented by Arkansas VerdigrisValley Health Center

Kale Charboneau oozes confidence.
“Tough-minded and a gamer. He believes every time he walks onto the field that he is going to win,” Wagoner legendary head coach Dale Condict said.

The Wagoner quarterback/linebacker helped put the Bulldogs back on top in Class 4A last year as a sophomore, propelling them to the school’s sixth state championship since 2011.

He completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,082 yards and had 18 touchdown tosses. He also added 609 yards to go along with 11 TDs on the ground. Charboneau is just as potent on the defensive side of the ball. He tallied 97 total tackles, including 17 for losses, and had a pair of interceptions in 2022.

He’s confident he and his team will be even better this season.

“What I’m looking forward to most this season is getting another title with my team,”
Charboneua said. “We’ve grown so much over the offseason. I’m excited to see what we can do this season. Team goals are to win state and go 14-0. Personal goals are to have 3,000 yards passing and 100-plus tackles on defense.”

Taking down unbeaten Cushing, 24-21, in last year’s thrilling state championship game sits atop Charboneua’s list of accomplishments.

“Most memorable moment is definitely winning state, and I would love to do it again,” he said.

The Bulldogs will try to better last year’s 11-3 record. All three of their losses came during the first six weeks of the season.

“The team overall has gotten a lot better since last season,” Charboneau said. “A lot of us have experienced playing in tough games. I have grown mentally knowing my reads better. And I have grown physically in the weight room.”

The VYPE Top 100 selection, along with teammates Witt Edwards and Alex Shieldnight, looks up to former Wagoner great and Detroit Lions’ linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez.

“Biggest influence is probably Malcolm Rodriguez. I have looked up to him and watched him play on all levels of football,” Charboneau said.
