WARNER EAGLES
BOYS
Coach: Anthony Porter
22-23 Record: 15-14
Since becoming head coach for the Warner Eagles, Anthony Porter has taken the Eagles to the area tournament two straight years and with that kind of momentum established, Porter hopes to take things one step further to the state tournament this season. “We plan on continuing this streak with the return of three starters from last year in Jace Jackson (6-2, Sr.) (a VYPE Top 100 nominee this year). Jace has been our team MVP for three seasons and has also been our leading scorer, averaging 14 points a game last year. He has all the knowledge and tools you would want in a guard. He’s an excellent defender, top assist leader and great rebounder,” said Porter. Another of those returning starters is Blake Ellis (6-7, Sr.) who Porter also had high praise for. “Blake is a strong presence in the paint and around the rim. But he’s not just an inside man, he can also hit from the outside and is our best rebounder, averaging nine per game last season.” The third returning starter Jaxon Cash (6-0, So.) who had a breakout year as a freshman last season with a lot of potential.
“Jaxon is a great athlete that brings a ton of energy to the court. He is an outstanding shooter that is very physical and aggressive and has the ability to score from anywhere on the court,” said Porter. Senior Reed Pickering will also figure into the mix for the Eagles. A couple of juniors will seek to become starters in Jaiden Osborn (5-8) and Stefan Xavier (6-2). Other than Cash other talented sophomores for Warner are Nate Lewis (5-9), Roman Carter (5-11) and Talon Lonshore (6-2). Freshmen Levi Bishop (5-3), Memphis Swimmer (5-8), Ethan Glover (5-8), Jackson Foreman (5-8), Shooter Campbell (5-10) and Dee Antwine (6-1) round out the Eagles roster.
