Warner Eagles 2023 Girls Basketball Preview Presented By CROSS

Alexis Fowler

GIRLS

Coach: Mindi Peters

22-23 Record: 22-5

The Eagle is flying high in Warner around the girls’ basketball team this year and for good reason. After making it to the state tournament last year, veteran coach Mindi Peters has five starters returning this season in what looks to be another stellar year for Warner. Senior Alexis Fowler (5-8), a VYPE Top 100 nominee, is the sparkplug for this squad. A four-year starter, she has been exciting to watch from her first game. “Alexis is a very good athlete that has been a vital part of our success the past three years. She is strong offensively, handles the ball well and can score it from anywhere on the floor,” said Peters. “She’s been our leading rebounder the past two seasons and will likely reach the 1,000 career points level this season.” Junior Jordan Jackson (5-6) is another key component of the Eagles success and another VYPE Top 100 nominee. She’s started at point guard since her freshman season and is a great ball handler, shooter and the team’s best defender.

“I believe that Jordan is one of the best point guards in the state,” said Peters. “She doesn’t always get the recognition she deserves because she makes it look so easy.” Also back for the Eagles is Harley Chesser (5-5, Sr.), another four years starter for Peters who can shoot the eyes out of the bucket and is a super quick defender. Kambree Ellis (6-0, So.) is another returning starter who statistically is the best shooter on the team, shooting 47 percent from the field. She started as a freshman last year and at 6-0 she causes headaches for opponents with her height and reach on both ends of the floor. Kaylen Park (5-6, Sr.) is the fifth starter. She’s a multi-sport athlete with a great attitude and has always been one of the hardest workers on the team according to Peters. Others back this year to give added depth off the bench are Jolee Williams (5-2, Sr.), juniors Jaylin Hopson (5-5) and Mary Sue Evans (5-8) along with sophomore Ava Peters (5-9). Incoming freshmen include Abby Marks (5-4), Emercyn Baldridge (5-6), Addison Upton (5-6), Coco Carter (5-8), Ella Labounty (5-6) and Zoey Armstrong (5-10).
