Warner’s Alexis Fowler – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Wright’s Sunset Corner Store

In the midst of Alexis Fowler’s basketball journey at Warner High School, the aspects of mentorship, dedication and triumph have molded her into the player she is today. A standout figure in Alexis’ story is Coach Mindi Peters, who not only serves as a coach but also assumes the role of a maternal influence: “Not only is she my coach, but she is also a mother figure towards myself and our team. She makes sure we take our nasty vitamins, we’re doing good in school, we look good on game days and always, always makes sure our mental health is okay. She is a great influence on anybody around her.”

Mrs. Vinson, a cherished teacher, plays a pivotal role in Alexis’s academic journey. Described as kind-hearted, determined and dedicated, Mrs. Vinson becomes a source of inspiration. “She always knew the right things to tell me so I could be great,” Alexis said. “She definitely was a great influence on my life.”

As the off-season unfolds, Alexis focuses on fortifying her mental resilience: “The preparation I have taken this off-season is working on my mentality. I worked on the mental part of the sport, and it has greatly helped my confidence.”

The lessons imbibed from basketball extend seamlessly into daily life for Alexis. “Basketball has definitely taught me dedication,” she shared. “Practicing two to three hours a day, and then going to shoot later in the afternoon after homework takes major dedication.”

In the gallery of cherished memories, Alexis points to a defining moment—beating the number one team, Dale, to advance to the State Tournament. The triumph holds a special place as Warner High School’s first team in 20 years to reach the State Tournament.

Looking ahead, Alexis sets personal and team goals for the season: “Personally, I hope to accomplish my 1,000-point goal. I am very close, so I know I can do it. My goal for our team is to make a comeback to the State Tournament and show who Warner really is.”

Post high school, Alexis’s journey continues at Connors State College, where she will balance athletics and academics. “After high school, I am continuing my athletic and academic career at Connors State College.”
