WEBBERS FALLS WARRIORS
Coach: TRENT HOLT
6-5
OFFENSE
The Warriors are looking to make a deeper playoff run this season after a first-round exit a year ago. Head coach Trent Holt likes the look of the squad he has coming back. “We have to replace several players due to graduation, but we also return some key players,” Holt said. “We should be pretty solid offensively, but we have to get better on defense, and we think we have the pieces to do it. Lack of depth will be a concern this season.” Leading the offense at quarterback will be Maddux Shelby (5-10, 180, Sr.). He had 933 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground, but that was only through six games due to suffering an injury. Look for him to have bigger numbers this season. Zane Nolan (5-9, 160, Jr.) carried the ball 40 times for 561 yards and seven scores last season, and he will be back at running back this season. Taking care of things on the offensive line and working to keep the defense out of the backfield are Ben Ward (6-0, 225, Sr.), Ryan Cowan (5-11, 210, Jr.), and Aiden Turley (6-1, 210, Jr.).
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, Holt’s team will focus on stopping the run first. The linebacker duo of Shelby and Turley will be a key cog in that wheel. Last season, Shelby ended with 60 tackles and three interceptions, while Turley registered 35 tackles. This season, they will look to continue to play hard and keep the offense from making big plays. Nolan racked up 40 tackles last season at safety and he will be working to slow down the opponent’s passing game. Assistant coaches for the Warriors this season are Steve Shelby and Hunter Holt.
