Beggs’ Konnor Stanton Athlete Spotlight Presented By Excel Therapy

Konner Stanton is a guiding force for the Beggs basketball team, excelling both academically and athletically. “I am a student at Beggs High School and I take concurrent courses through OSU-IT. I have accomplished a total of twelve hours so far and will gain nine more at the end of this semester,” she shared, underscoring the dedication she brings to her studies alongside her athletic pursuits.

Konner’s journey in basketball began as a familial tradition, inspired by her siblings’ involvement in the sport. “I started playing basketball because all of my siblings played, so I was familiar with the game. I now play the post position just like my brothers and sister.”

Balancing academics and sports require meticulous organization, a skill that Konner has honed. “I balance academics and sports by being very organized in my day. I have a good routine of when to study and when to practice,” she acknowledged, highlighting the importance of structure in managing her dual responsibilities.

Reflecting on her high school sports career, Konner treasures the resilience of her team during a challenging season: “A memorable moment for me was last year when we did not have a good season but as a team, we stuck through all the hard times together. My coaches were very encouraging during this time and helped us through the tough times.”

Overcoming personal challenges, including shyness and learning to assert herself on the court, has been integral to Konner’s growth. “The challenges I have overcome include being shy and learning how to be aggressive on the court when I need to be,” she said, showcasing her ongoing journey of self-improvement and development.

Being part of a team has had a profound impact on Konner, fostering her growth as a leader and a supportive teammate. “Being part of a team has helped me become a better leader and a better supporter of my teammates both on and off the court.”

Before games, Konner finds strength and motivation through the unwavering support of her influential coach, Denise Gray. “Coach Gray has been influential to me because she has been a huge supporter of me and the team through all the ups and downs we have had. She has stuck with us and taught us a lot.”
