HENRYETTA KNIGHTS

Coach: WESTON MCGILL

5-6

OFFENSE

Nick Hudson will be the catalyst for an offense that returns nine starters under head coach Weston McGill, who returns 27 of his 32 players overall from 2022. Hudson (6-0, 185, Sr.), a VYPE Top 100 selection, rushed for 1,620 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, while adding 204 receiving yards and a pair of scores. “He plays football, basketball and tennis and is a hard-working kid with high character,” McGill said. Henryetta also returns senior running back David Reid (5-9, 155), who rushed for 780 yards. Quarterback Brady Norman (6-1, 180, Jr.) will guide the offense after throwing for 1,507 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore. Receivers Jason Powders (5-10, 175, Jr.) and Will Perez (5-9, 150, So.) will be solid targets for Norman. They combined for 777 yards and nine TDs in 2022. Senior Seth Kinslow (5-11, 290) will anchor the offensive line. “We want to be able to attack every area of the field, utilizing different formations, motions and tempos,” McGill said.

DEFENSE

The Knights return all but one starter on defense. Linebacker James Miller (5-10, 185, Jr.) recorded 70 tackles, 2.5 tackles for losses and a pair of sacks as a sophomore. “He does football, powerlifting, and track. He has been in the weight room from the day I arrived and has continued to improve throughout the year because of his work ethic,” McGill said. Nick Hudson and Tayler Hamric (5-10, 180, Jr.) will fill in at other linebacker spots. Hudson registered 42 tackles, 6.5 tackles for losses and four sacks last year, while Hamric added 60 tackles. Seth Kinslow will play at defensive end/linebacker after collecting 40 tackles, nine tackles for losses and four sacks last year. Jordyn Miller (6-1, 210, Jr.) will lead the defensive front. Miller led the team with 12 tackles for losses in 2022 and also had 6.5 sacks. Hunter Gobin (5-11, 155, Sr.) will lead the secondary. “We will be back and forth between a 3-5-3 stack and a 3-4-4,” McGill said. “We want to suffocate the run game and affect the passer.” Sophomore Nathan Nail is also expected to contribute as both a defensive back and receiver. “Started the last half of his freshman year. He does football and track. I expect him to play well all year at WR and DB,” McGill said.
