Henryetta Knights Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Excel Therapy

Boys

Coach: Bunyan Johnson

Record: 10-15

The Henryetta Knights lost three solid seniors from last year’s team that made it to the regional finals but they return three quality seniors and some promising underclassmen that coach Bunyan Johnson hopes will carry them further this season. Leading the way is multi-sport athlete Nick Hudson, a junior who set the school single season rushing record in football this year. “Nick has started since he was a freshman and he’s the glue that really holds everything together for us,” said Johnson. “He’s one of our better scorers and ball handlers.”

Also returning is another four-year starter in 6 foot-5 post player Jordan Short. “Jordan’s not your typical big man in that he can also step out on occasion and hit the three-pointer and stretch the floor a little bit,” said Johnson. The third starter is Austin Palmer who was injured part of last year but still made a valuable contributions. “He’s a tough-nosed kid who does the rebounding, sets the screens, plays aggressive defense and does a lot of the dirty work for us,” stated Johnson “All three of these guys are great leaders for us,” said the head coach. “They’ve all been with me since middle school and know what I expect and they all set good examples for the others in drills and practices. Another player to watch for the Knights will be sophomore Skylar Greenhaw. “He’s put in a lot of work during the summer to improve his skills to go along with his high basketball IQ,” said Johnson.
