The Lady Bulldogs are hoping to add some W’s this year with three returning starters and several move-in players. The returning players are Victoria “Tori” James (5-5, Sr.), Mariya Tecumseh (5-9, Sr.) and Rhonisha Smith (5-5, Sr.). “Tori has been our go-to player since her sophomore year,” said second-year coach Mariah Miles. “She’s our best three-point shooter and if the ball is not in her hands, then we struggle a bit. She knows what I expect and gets it done at both ends of the floor. Mariya is a strong inside presence with a good mid-range jumper, a lot of power in the paint if needed as well as a strong defender. Rhonisha is a good hustle player and as a senior, a good leader for us.”
The Lady Bulldogs should also benefit from four transfer players this year in Jaidyn Gatewood from Morris, Mellani Blackbear from Wilson, Mallory Rivas from Dewar and Cora Cremin-Love from Tulsa Rogers and the daughter of new Bulldog boys’ coach Cordell Love. “Jaidyn is a freshman and a true point guard who I think will be a real spark for our team. She’s a great ball handler and will work well with the up-tempo style I want to play,” said Miles. “I coached Mellani when I was at Wilson and she’s one of our top 3-point shooters who can also drive it to the basket. Mallory is a junior who is a good shooter and ball handler and Cora will be our best defender as well as a good attacker on offense. Other players who will make contributions this year will be Emma Harrison (5-9, So.) who was one of the top rebounders last year as a freshman, Kalacee Rangel (5-5, So.), Chassidy Keesee (5-2, So.), Daijah Ghoston (5-9, Fr.). Cameryn Williamson (5-8,, Sr.) and Saniya Hammon (5-5. So.).
