Okmulgee’s Jaxsun Fulton – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Mabrey Bank

Jaxsun Fulton, a standout student-athlete at Okmulgee High School, has become a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court. His journey, marked by the influence of coaches, teammates and a favorite teacher, showcases a commitment to excellence both on and off the court.

Acknowledging the importance of a supportive team, Jaxsun singles out a standout teammate: “I feel like all my teammates support me, but I’d say Giorgio Dunn-Spencer from Preston has been one of the best teammates I’ve had.”

Beyond the court, Jaxsun pays tribute to a teacher who has been a source of inspiration. “Mrs. Mason from Morris, she always showed me the brighter side of everything no matter what,” he said.

Preparation is key, and Jaxsun has been diligently working on specific skills during the off-season. “I’ve been working on my shot and ball-handling skills because that’s what I need for us to be more successful this season and for me to improve as a player.”

Basketball, for Jaxsun, is more than a game. It’s a teacher of life lessons. “My sport has taught me to stay motivated and be well-disciplined.” The discipline and motivation cultivated on the court undoubtedly translate into valuable traits in his daily life.

Recalling a defining moment in his basketball journey, Jaxsun points to a playoff victory: “Beating top-5 ranked Lincoln Christian in a win-or-go-home situation in the playoffs.”

Looking ahead, Jaxsun is ambitious in his goals for the upcoming season: “I hope to receive offers to go play college ball, and I hope for my team to win state and my teammates to get recruited as well.”

Jaxsun’s excitement for the season is palpable, particularly for a specific matchup: “I’m really excited to play Metro Christian sometime during this season.”

Beyond the confines of high school, Jaxsun envisions a future in basketball: “I plan to go to college and hopefully go pro in basketball.” This aspiration speaks to his long-term commitment to the sport he loves.
