Anistyn Garner

GIRLS

Coach: Jordan Garner

22-23 Record: 24-6

Like the boys, the Preston girls have also improved their game the past three years as they made it to the state tournament last year as well. Jordan Garner has moved over from Webbers Falls to take on the head coaching spot at Preston this year and has several seniors returning from that state team plus a key move-in that he didn’t have to go far to find- his daughter Anistyn (5-4, Sr.), a VYPE Top 100 nominee.

“Anistyn helped take Webbers Falls to the state tournament last year and this year should eclipse the 1,000-career point mark. She is also a three-year state qualifier in track,” said dad/coach. The younger Garner will work with other seniors such as Shaunassi Jordan (5-9) who averaged about 6.0 points a game last year as well as Savannah King (5-6), Emilie Stidman (5-2), Heaven Fuller (5-8), and Pheobye Finch (5-7). “Pheobye is the ultimate ‘glue girl’”, said Garner. “She is fantastic teammate who is willing to do all of the little things that it takes to win.” That’s a pretty strong upper class of talent so the youngsters will have to work extra hard for the new coach to find some playing time. That group includes sophomores Josie Cope (6-1), Roylisa Davis (5-6) and Taylan Star (5-8). “Taylan is a dynamic athlete that also excels at softball. We look for her to have a great impact on our team,” said Garner. There is also a trio of freshman hopefuls that will be looking to catch the eye of the new coach for some playing time in Delanie Long (5-6), Kamryn Daniels (5-4), Keeli Cheshier (5-6) and Kyliann Doke. “We have had a great summer and preseason,” said Garnr. “We have five seniors with significant playing experience and several underclassmen that are eager to contribute.”
