Preston Pirates Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Excel Therapy

Girls

Coach: Rylie Littlejohn

21-22 Record: 21-7

The combination of playoff experience coupled with four returning starters that expectation of the Lady Pirates is a return to the Class 2A state tournament next March to secure the program’s eighth girls basketball state championship. “Our team is made up of mostly upperclassmen who have gotten a lot of playoff experience the past few years, said head coach Rylie Littlejohn. “We return four starters including three seniors and a junior. We hope to get over the hump of a Friday area tournament finish.” One of the many reasons for excitement at Preston is the play of Adrianne Wilson (5-9, Sr.) “She is a tough, all-around player that can shoot it, drive it, rebound and bring the energy for us defensively,” replied the third year head coach.

Adrianne is a hard-working senior that is determined to get this team where they want to be.” The ability to score from multiple facets makes Jadyn Roberts (5- 8, Sr.) tough to stop along with the play of Ashlynn Foster (5-7, Sr.) and Pheobey Finch (5-9, Jr.) that Littlejohn confidently describes as an animal on the defensive end of the court. Depth shouldn’t be a problem for the Lady Pirates thanks to the ever-hustling efforts of a trio of juniors including Savannah King (5-7, Jr.), Shaunassi Jordan (5-9, Jr.) and Emilie Stidham (5-5, Jr.) A group of young and ball savvy freshmen consisting of Josie Cope (6-1, Fr.), Taylan Starr (5-8 Fr.) along with Roylisa Davis (5-6, Fr.), Faith Ford (5-6, Fr.), Sabrina Westmoreland (5-7, Fr.) and Julissa Diaz (5-6, Fr.) will enrich the progress of this year’s team.
