Fort Gibson’s Josh Miller Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Muskogee C.A.N

There is a lot of hard work that athletes put in over their careers so that they can be successful. But when they enjoy the fruits of their labor, they know that all that time and effort was worth it.

Josh Miller is a 2023 graduate of Fort Gibson High School and the work he invested during his high school years has helped him be able to continue his career at the next level.

“I have signed with Oklahoma Baptist University to run track,” he said. “That has to be the highlight moment of my career. Running college track has always been a dream of mine and I still can’t believe I’ve achieved it.”

As a track athlete for the Tigers, Miller ran the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. While there were times that the work was tough he kept himself inspired by seeing the results.

“Getting better and seeing improvement in myself is what motivates me the most,” he said. “It has taken countless hours of hard work and fixing minor problems in my form in order to be successful in track.”

Numerous people have been a part of Josh’s life over the years, but he has two that have made a bigger impact.

“The biggest influences on my life have always been my dad and Papa,” he stated. “They have always supported me and been in my corner.”

Track is a sport that allows you to face many different opponents throughout the season. And even though that is the case for Josh, he says that there is one opponent that stands out above the rest.

“My favorite opponent to race is Zachery Parker,” Miller said. “I first raced him at the Inola high school meet and every race since then has been great. We were always so close in time that the races were just fun. At state, he finally ended up beating me by just .05 of a second but he was still my favorite opponent of my career.”
