OFFENSE

The bark of the Bulldogs gives warning to their gridiron opponents to beware of the Bulldogs this season. Coach Brent Scott enters his fourth year at the helm and has plenty of reasons to kickoff another campaign as Okmulgee returns six starters to the offensive unit. A primary reason for the excitement in the Bulldogs camp is the talents of returning quarterback Joseph Robertson (6-3, 185, Jr.) who Scott says has all the traits of a next level signal caller. Whether used for blocking or as productive receivers, Scott will employ a pair of tight ends to create impactful results including Jordan Bolden (5-11, 200, Jr.) and Trey Swann (6-4, 250, Sr.). Size, strength and mobility will once again anchor the offensive line as veterans Calip Harjo (6-3, 260, Sr.) and Durante Payne (5-8, 210, Sr.) along with Brandon Simon (6-2, 250, Jr.). “We’re excited about our opportunities for success this fall,” replied Scott. “The wing-T offense is tough to defend and with Joseph at the helm at quarterback, we can take an old defense with modern day adjustments to energize our success to move the ball and score.”

DEFENSE

The Bulldogs will put their best 11 players on the field and make you beat them with your best athletes. Four starters return to the lineup ready to wreck the efforts of their opponents, as Okmulgee will continue to use a 4-2-5 defensive scheme. Jordan Bolden, who recorded 14 tackles for loss a year ago returns to his linebacker position bringing a fast to the football mentality while playing behind the front line efforts of Asiah Leybass (6-0, 235, Jr.) on the defensive line. Outside linebacker Jeramiah Harley (6-0, 285, Jr.) has the abilities to play boundary to boundary in run or pass coverage confident knowing that Wilson White (5-10, 155, Jr.) can support the total defensive efforts in the secondary. The 2022 lineup of games will certainly test the grit of the Bulldogs as Okmulgee will only play four games in front of the home fans.
