Webbers Falls Warriors

BOYS

Coach: Jordan Garner

20-21 Record: 12-8

Senior Daylan Jarrard (6-3) will have to shoulder the load for the Warriors this season as the only senior and only returning starter. He averaged just over seven points a game last year and shoots about 30 percent from three-point land. He’s a three-year starter who has worked very hard on his game during the off-season according to coach Jordan Garner. Jarrard’s supporting cast will include Caden Dishman (6-2, Jr.), Maddux Shelby (5-8, So.), Jaxon Swearingen (5-8, So.) and Stryker Chappell (6-1, So.), all of whom saw enough playing time to post some stats last year. Additionally, Garner will look to Riley Ogg (6-3, Jr.) to be a solid contributor off the bench if he doesn’t crack the starting five. The rest of the bench will be composed of young pups in sophomore Caleb Dishman (6-3), and freshmen Luke Pierce (5-6), Michael Taylor (6-0) and Ashton Davis (5-6). “Even though we only have one senior, this group has played a lot of basketball. We feel like we have a roster full of kids that can play and contribute. We’ll be counting on a host of underclassmen to provide the depth we need,” said Garner.

GIRLS

Coach: Jerry Ward

20-21 Record: 21-3

Veteran coach Jerry Ward returns four starters from a team that made it to state last year and so the anticipation level is high for the Lady Warriors. Leading that group is multi-sport talent Samantha Shanks (5-8, Sr.) who averaged 17.5 points, nearly seven rebounds and six assists per game as the floor leader for Webbers Falls. “She’s just a complete player who can impact the game even when she doesn’t have the ball and can play any position,” said Ward. Joining Shanks out front will be Morgan Carter (5-4, Sr.) who averaged seven points a game. “We call her the glue girl because she holds everything together for our team,” said Ward. Returning to the post or on the wing is Cessna Kimberlin (5-9, Sr.) who averaged five points and seven rebounds a game in 2020. Brooke Wyatt (5-4, Sr.) is the fourth starter of the group. There are others who saw plenty of playing time that will look to crash the starting lineup this year in Anistyn Garner (5-4, So.) who had a great freshman campaign, Lindsey Pierce (5-6, Jr.) and Samantha Griffin (5-7, Jr.). As usual with Webbers Falls, there is a strong contingent of freshmen who will be helping off the bench in a group made up of Teralynn Colston (5-5), Bridgette Baer (5-4), Cheyanne Herrier (5-4), Gracie Sturgell (5-5) and Jaylene Goodman (5-5). The Lady Warrior seniors have been knocking on the door for the last few years and are 68-11 over that three-year span. Perhaps this is the year they break the door down.
