OFFENSE 

The Wolves are howling and ready to change the final score on Friday night as Jeff Broyles takes the reins as head coach. “These young men are committed to changing the direction of our program,” said Broyles, who was the offensive coordinator last season. “It’s just like a puzzle, when all the pieces fit, things work well together.” The up-tempo offense will work out of the shotgun riding the arm strength of quarterback Dalton Semore (5-11, 165, Sr.) who begins his third season as the Wolves starting signal caller after throwing 10 touchdowns last year. Semore already has a confident connection throwing the ball to wide receivers Jackson Clubb (6-0, 145, Jr.) who totaled four scoring receptions and averaging 11.1 yards per catch, Camden Broyles (6-2, 180, Jr.) along with newcomer Jaxon Armstrong (5-10, 150, So). Winning football demands the efforts of the offensive line to win the battles in the trenches and Broyles will rely upon the experience and leadership of David Moore (6-1, 200, Sr.) along with three-year starter Jacob Vickers (6-1, 280, Jr.) and Kevin Bretado (5-11, 200, So.) who gained game time experience a year ago. 

DEFENSE 

The front-line aggressive style welcomes the high energy of David Moore whose non-stop efforts produced 17 tackles for loss among his 90 tackles as well as Jacob Vickers who saw plenty of game time as a sophomore in 2021. The Wolves linebacker unit returns strength and mobility of Hagen Ritter (6-1, 175, So.) who charted 58 tackles last season as a freshman and Miguel Reyes (5-7, 175, Jr.) plays downhill with passion. The skills of Jackson Clubb and Jackson Armstrong will deliver consistent highlight reel efforts in the secondary. 

“Our defensive squad is learning a new system that will be focused on physicality while getting all 11 players to the ball in a hurry,” said Broyles. “We’re focused on getting better every day and then reaping the rewards on game nights.” The Wolves will have to mature on the road as Heavener will play four of its first five games on the road before closing the playoff chase with four home games down the stretch.
