GIRLS

Coach: Chris Brown

22-23 Record: 25-7

In the world of high school girls’ basketball, Howe High School stands as a powerhouse, and their journey this season will be one to watch. With a dynamic mix of returning talent and emerging stars, the Howe Lady Lions, under the seasoned guidance of coach Chris Brown, are looking ahead to a promising season. Last season, the Lady Lions boasted an impressive 25-7 record, reaching the state finals with their eyes set on the ultimate prize. However, the upcoming season brings new challenges and opportunities.

“We need several other young players to step up this season,” Brown said. This season, the Lady Lions have one returning starter from their State Finals team, Karsyn Nye (Sr.). A vital cog in the team’s machine, Nye’s leadership and experience will be invaluable. As the lone senior, she’ll be called upon to not only contribute on the court but also provide guidance and mentorship to her teammates. While the team may have limited juniors available due to injuries, it’s the solid core of sophomores, led by Kadynce Delt and Slatey Jo Free, that promises to be a driving force for the Lady Lions. These underclassmen are no strangers to success, having played integral roles in the State Finals team last season and are ready to raise the bar even higher. In the realm of hardworking athletes, Jazz Harrison (Jr.) deserves a special mention. A key contributor from the second unit last season, Harrison’s determination and work ethic are set to shine even brighter in the upcoming games. Her journey symbolizes the dedication and effort that define Howe’s basketball program. Additionally, Josey Peterson (So.), embodies the values of teamwork, selflessness, and dedication that are integral to the Lady Lions’ success. Her commitment to the team, despite sitting out a season, is a testament to the unity and camaraderie within the program. As the Lady Lions embark on a new chapter, the story is one of resilience, teamwork and the pursuit of excellence.
