MULDROW BULLDOGS

Coach: LOGAN COATNEY

8-3

OFFENSE

The end of the 2022 school year meant the loss of lots of talent and a football coach for the Muldrow Bulldogs. Logan Coatney is moving up to take on the heading coaching position for Muldrow and he’ll face a rebuilding task to be sure. Most of the offense was dominated by seniors last year so the four starters that are returning all saw limited playing time.

“The 2023 season will look different for us as numerous kids will be playing new roles,” said Coatney. “Though we graduated a ton of talent, our younger kids look to be ready for the job ahead. We will look different on both sides of the ball, but we feel confident in our ability to compete each time we are on the field.” The new quarterback for the Bulldogs will be Reid Sutton (6-1, 170, Sr.). Another senior, Cody Gibbs (5-8, 150, Sr.), will carry the mail for the Bulldogs while the big man in the middle holding down the offensive line will be center Mark Gleason (6-3, 300, Jr.). Teaguen Collins (6-2, 170, So.) will present a good-sized target for Sutton’s passes. “Teaguen will play wide receiver and defensive back for us and seems to be someone who will make an impact this year,” said Coatney. “We’ll run a multiple spread offense and try to spread the ball around and take whatever the defense will give us.”

DEFENSE

The defense will have some maturity but, like the offense, not a whole lot of experience for the new season. There will be some size in the defensive line with Will Stratmann (5-11, 200, Sr.) and Destin Partin (5-10, 185, Sr.) and even more so if Gleason ends up in the mix as well. Zack Parker (6-2, 180, Sr.) will be the main stopper at linebacker and Devan Gibbs (5-8, 165, Jr.) will be in charge of the secondary for the Bulldogs as they run from multiple defensive sets. Coatney will have Brian Smith, Gary Hixon, Zane Rose, Tanner Ryan and Brycen Lowe as his assistants in his first season at the helm. This inexperienced crew will need to make the adjustments to a new coach and hit the ground running as they march into the new season.
