Coach: Jana Armer
22-23 Record: 23-5
After being denied a return trip to the state tournament last year, the Lady Bulldogs have made the best of the offseason to ready themselve to chase a Big House ticket this season. Not only does Muldrow welcome the return of three starters but also their top three scorers to set the stage for 20th state tournament appearance as veteran coach Jana Armer enters her 24th season as the head coach at her alma mater. VYPE Top 100 nominee Kennedi Wight (5-10, Sr.) who paced the scoring stats last season averaging 16.2 points while grabbing 5.3 rebounds per contest enters her fourth year as a starter “Kennedi is a well-rounded player that loves to compete,” said Armer. “She has a high basketball IQ and spends a lot of time in the gym working on her game.
She has averaged double digits every year in high school.” The advantage of game time experience will once again be a plus for Muldrow with five more seniors including Cailey Grinstead (5-6, Sr.) who averaged 8.2 points per game joined by Claire Tabor (5-7, Sr.) who Armer admires for her 110-percent energy and leadership along with twin sisters Kennedy (5-7, Sr.) and Katelynn Moore (5-8, Sr.) and Makynlee Morton (5-5, Sr.) as well as Maysi Fields (5-7, Jr.). The Bulldogs have another reason to be confident on their ability to finish at the rim because of the skills of Kayla Ellingburg (5-11, So.) “Her size and skill will give us a force inside,” said Armer. “She’ll play some big minutes for us this year.” The mix of veteran experience and youthful energy gives Muldrow a solid chance to chase their dreams to play in Oklahoma City next March according to their coach. “We have a solid group of seniors that know what it takes along with a great group of sophomores. I’m expecting good things from this group.”
