GIRLS
Coach: John Mason
22-23 Record: 11-11
The Pirates return a senior heavy group of experienced players to go to work in 2023. Leading the way is Brooklyn Garner (5-9, Sr.) who averaged 17.3 points a game last season from the forward position. “Brooklyn has been the conference player of the year the past two seasons and is always working to improve her game at both ends of the floor,” said coach John Mason. The rest of this strong set of seniors is made up of Parker Patterson (5-8), Gracyn Soehlman (5-7), Brooke Hattabaugh (5-4), Savanna Bryan (5-2) and Camryn Zink (5-6).
There is another Zink girl that will also figure prominently into the Pirates plans this year in sophomore Ava Zink (5-8). “Ava is an incredibly athletic sophomore who works hard every day to do the right things and improve individually. We believe she will become a key player in our success this year,” said Mason. A trio of juniors figure to get in on the action this year as well and that group is made up of Daisee Powers, (5-5), Kiah King (5-7), and Kenzie Green (5-4). Joining Ava Zink in the sophomore class are Gracie Spradley (5-6), Kiera Cox (5-10) and Emma Hackler (5-6) along with freshman Kinlee Taylor (6-1). The Pirates don’t possess a lot of size in their top eight or so other than Garner, so quick guard play and defense will be big keys for the Pirates to be successful. Mason likes the leadership and experience he gets with his seniors but is looking to sophomores Ava Zink and Hackler to be more productive as well.
