Poteau football standout Dax Collins has made his college decision.
Collins, a senior-to-be who has 11 NCAA Division I offers, announced his commitment to the University of Tulsa on Monday afternoon.
In three years with the Pirates, Collins has rushed for 3,100 yards, compiled 446 receiving yards, and defensively has logged 194 tackles with 11 interceptions. He helped carry Poteau to a 10-3 mark and Class 4A state semifinal appearance last season where he rushed for 1,300 yards, added 200 receiving yards and combined for 22 touchdowns as a running back. As a defensive back, he collected 83 tackles and had four interceptions.
“Dax is the best player in Class 4A heading into the 2023 season,” Poteau head coach Greg Werner said.
Collins is the fifth commitment for Tulsa and head coach Kevin Wilson, who will be
entering his first season after spending the previous six years as offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
Collins has also received offers from SMU, Air Force, Colorado, Dartmouth, Eastern
Michigan, Michigan State, UNLV, Middle Tennessee State, Navy and Yale.
