GIRLS

Coach: Scott Nelke

22-23 Record: 19-7

Scott Nelke takes the helm of the Roland girls this year and he seeks to find a way for the Rangers to push past the area tournament level where they’ve stalled the past couple of years and into the state tournament.

“We’ve got a good group of returners from a team that fell just short of state last year plus a good group of freshmen that should contribute,” said Nelke. Among the upperclassmen that the new coach will be counting on is senior Addyson Cole (5-5) and junior Haven Freeman (5-9), both of whom are VYPE Top 100 nominees.

Haven Freeman

“These girls both have a great work ethic and led the team in scoring and assists last year. I look for them a good year and be our team leaders,” said Nelke. Among the freshmen group that Nelke mentioned are a couple that the new coach discussed. “Ryanne Nelke (6-0) and Halle Freeman (6-0) are two girls that people will want to watch. “Both of these girls are 6 footers and will be able to help us immediately. Ryanne is a good outside shooter and sees the floor well to be able to help the other players be better. Halle is very athletic and will bring defensive intensity and inside shooting presence to our game.” There are more seniors on this team that will help with the leadership aspect and may find a place in the starting lineup. This group includes Jazzlyn Tehee (5-6), Lilly Medicine-Bird (6-0), Riscay Campbell (5-9) and Kenlei Earnhart (5-6). The junior class consists of Madi Whisenant (5-6), Julianna Trujillo (5-8), Brooklyn Decker (5-6), and Laikyn Conaway (5-5). Sophomore Jaiden Soap (5-4) and freshman Anniston Howard (5-0) round out a substantial roster for the Rangers.
