Roland’s Jaidyn Burrell – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Indian Capital Technology Center

High school athletes put in a lot of time and effort so that they can reach the goals they have set for themselves. For some, the goals may be a championship or some kind of personal achievement, but for others like Jaidyn Burrell, it’s a desire to compete at a higher level. Because of the work and dedication that she has dispalyed on the field and in the classroom, Burrell will be able to see that dream come true and also have a head start on a college degree.

“I am committed to playing softball at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid,” she stated. “And I will graduate high school with 27 completed college hours.”

Jaidyn is a senior at Roland High School. Along with playing softball, she is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Honors Club, and she serves as president of the Spanish Club and secretary for the Business Club.

During her years of playing softball, Burrell has enjoyed some moments that are forever impressed into her memory. But out of all of them, she has one game that will always be something she thinks about.

“The highlight of my career was on July 4th, 2020,” she stated. “That day my 14U travel team and I traveled to an 18U softball tournament in Maumelle, Arkansas. It was a rough day and my young team and I stuck it out against the tough competition. We found ourselves in the championship game and we were behind 6 runs. We were the home team and in the last inning, I started it off with a base hit after being in a hitting slump all tournament. My team rallied after that and beat a team full of girls that were already in college. While receiving our championship rings there were fireworks going off all around us due to it being the 4th of July. That is a memory that I will never forget.”

Anytime she puts on the Roland softball uniform, Jaidyn strives to be more than just a great athlete, she also wants to be an outstanding community member.

“When I play I want to make my community proud. I want to be one of the athletes that are remembered not only for how they played but also for being a good person.”
