Molly Carver

GIRLS

Coach: Eric Carr

22-23 Record: 16-10

Potential may be the best word to use as you look at the Black Diamond girls who will operate under new coach Eric Carrthis season. “We will begin a new era of Sallisaw basketball this year with a shift in our culture and philosophies. We will be young, athletic and play extremely hard. We will improve during the season as we gain valuable experience and will be very competitive come playoff time,” said Carr. Returning at a forward spot will be Abby Kate Qualls (5-10) who Carr will be leaning on to be a leading force for the Black Diamonds. “Abby Kate is our senior leader and will be stepping into a leadership role this year. She plays with tremendous effort and her growth this summer has been awesome to watch,” said Carr. Qualls will be joined in senior leadership by Allison Grimm (5-6). A trio of talented juniors will also figure prominently into the playing mix this year with Kayli Mason (5-6), Macie Gremillion (5-9) and Casey Brackett (5-4).

The sophomore class is dominant for the Black Diamonds with a couple of players that Carr is high on such as Hannah Palmer (5-5) and Emma Martin (5-4). “Hannah had a great summer in our team camps and on the AAU circuit. She is a guard who can be explosive off the dribble and shoots the 3 well. She will play both guard positions and we look forward to seeing an expanded role for her this year,” said Carr. “Emma got some quality minutes last year as a freshman and brings a high level of competitiveness to our team as well as willingness to do all the little things and as she improves offensively, she will become more of a factor for us.” Another member of the sophomore class is Molly Carver (5-9) a VYPE TOP 100 nominee. “Molly spent some time starting as a freshman last year and is our leading scorer returning with 6.6 point a game,” said Carr., Other sophomores are Alayna Locust-Trammell (5-6), Sydney Weedon (5-8), Addy Orendorff (5-9), Mckira Bailey (6-2) and Kylie Holt (5-4). Freshman Channing Wilson (5-10) will also be looking to see some playing time this year.
