Keys’ Maddy Hamby
Maddy Hamby’s hard work to get better in the pitcher’s circle has earned her a special label from her head coach.
“Maddy will be our team MVP this year because of the hard work to refine her craft in the pitching circle,” Keys’ head coach Nick Zodrow said. “Maddy’s ability to pound the strike zone will give our team a chance to win every time out. Softball starts in the circle and we are leaning on Maddy to have a big year pitching.”
Hamby, a junior who also plays in the infield, wanted to be better at the plate going into the season.
“My goal for this year was to dominate in the box and get stronger mentally,” she said. “I feel like I’ve improved mentally. I’ve become stronger and more confident on the field.
“I have gotten better in the circle and in the box compared to last season.”
Hamby, who says her most memorable experience came when she hit her first out-of-the-park home run, says her dad is her biggest influence.
“My dad pushes me to be the best I can be and supports me through everything,” she said.
Hamby plans on going to college to be an ultrasound tech and then wants a career in the medical field.
