VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
Annika: I have 2 main goals for this year and the first one is to PR in a 5k with a time around 21 minutes or lower and my second goal would be to maintain A’s in each of my classes throughout the year.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Annika: Running Cross country and Track has taught me to be mentally strong or to find something good to get me through any kind of day.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Annika: Carl Wallace and Cody Vann are my favorite teachers who have helped me grow as a person and will always lend a hand or an ear in any situation. I cannot place one over the other.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Annika: An upperclassman and teammate of mine Makenna Hood inspires me to want to continue doing my sport and work harder for it because you can tell she’s serious about what she does and works hard to get what she wants.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Annika: Most definitely Makenna Hood because she can be hard on me and other teammates but that’s because she knows we can do better and it makes me want to become a better version of myself.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Annika: I love that most everyone tries to uplift and cheer each other on.
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
Annika: As of now I am my family’s best athlete. This is because I am the most athletically involved and practice maybe 5-6 days out of a week depending on conditions. Although my younger brother is right there with me because he does two sports, he’s in elementary school.
VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Annika: I wish I could play basketball if I was able to but unfortunately it runs into track season and I’m not willing to give that up.
VYPE: What profession would you like to work in?
Annika: I would like to work in the medical field as an OBGYN or a midwife and help in the delivery process and aid the mothers.
