Hi, what are you looking for?

Q&A with Tahlequah’s Ethan Sisk – Presented by McClure’s Fast Lane Oil Change

VYPE: What are your goals for this season?
Ethan: My goal this season is to qualify for state and make it to day two of the state competition.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Ethan: I have learned that dedication and hard work today leads to achievements and success tomorrow. There may be bumps and struggles along the way, but the reward at the end of the road is worth it. I have seen dramatic improvement through putting time into developing my game outside of school.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Ethan: My favorite teacher is Mr. Walden. I have been in his 8th and 11th grade history classes. He makes learning history something I look forward to every day. Before his class I only knew the dates of historical events and who was involved. Now I have a deeper understanding of why they happened and have learned from both the successes and failures of people in history.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Ethan: As a little kid I would always look up to my cousin Caleb, with whom I still have a strong relationship with. Still to this day when I spend time with him I learn from him how to be a better man.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Ethan: My doubles partner, Brock Young, and I are childhood friends. We have been playing doubles in tennis for 4 years. His love for the sport is one of the many reasons why I started playing. We work together quickly and effectively on the court.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Ethan: The best part about being on a team is that we are all there for each other in the highs, as well as the lows. Any time we are waiting for our next match we will watch and motivate each other to keep pushing on.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Ethan: If I got to go on my dream vacation, I would take my friend Brock with me to watch the finals at Wimbledon.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Ethan: I love how when in a match, players can get frustrated with their performance, but still have humility and respect for their opponent and shake hands in the end. I believe this comes from sportsmanship seen at the professional level.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Ethan: I would like to say thank you to my teammate and friend Brice Miggletto for pushing me to strive for only my best on the courts, and wish you nothing but prosperity as you take on the challenges of life after graduation.
