Q&A with Tahlequah’s Jasper Ward – Presented by Tropical Smoothies

VYPE: What are your goals for this season?

Jasper: For the rest of this season, my main goal is to win the rest of our games. If we do this, we can finish over .500, and secure a winning record. This season has not been ideal, but we have done what we could with what we have.

VYPE: What has soccer taught you that you use in your daily life?

Jasper: This sport has taught me to always strive for the best in myself. I use this every single day, whether that be in the classroom, or on the field. Soccer has taught me to never settle for less.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Jasper: My favorite teacher throughout high school was Mrs. Lawrence. Mrs. Lawrence taught me Forensic Science last year. She always found a way to make class interesting and worth my while.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Jasper: I draw my inspiration from the most prominent figures in my life, my mother and father. My parents are exemplary people, and I try my best to follow their example.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Jasper: It is hard to pin down one teammate, as they all have impacted my life in their own way. However, Jerron Sherrill had a big impression on me my sophomore year. Jerron was sort of my mentor this year, an older teammate to look up to. I try to be a mentor to the younger guys on the team this year.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Jasper: My favorite part of being on a team is the camaraderie and connections that come with it. I love to be in this environment with other people who love the sport, and I have formed my strongest friendships and bonds through being on a team.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Jasper: I would love to go to Greece. This is my dream vacation because of the incredible sights, and pristine conditions. Ideally, I would take my family, and a small group of friends with me.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Jasper: I am so passionate about soccer because I grew up playing this sport. Soccer has been a constant in my life for the last 12 years, and I care for it deeply. There have been times where this sport has been my whole life, and times like these are why I am so passionate about it.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.Jasper: I want to thank all of my coaches and teammates who have helped me throughout my years in the sport.
