Stilwell Indians Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Northeastern Health System

BOYS
Coach: Mike George

21-22 Record 24-3

The Stilwell Indians equaled a school record with a 24-3 mark last year but ended up one game short of making it to the state tournament. They aim to correct that this year with the return of four starters and some bench depth that saw a lot of playing time in 2021. “We look to build off our success from last year and break through with a solid nucleus returning,” said coach Mike George. The heart and soul of the team is guard Codey Petree (5-11, Sr.) who averaged 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds a game last year while making the all-conference team for the third year and being named the conference player of the year.

“He was our leading scorer last year and is a solid four-year starter,” said George. Another returning starter on this senior-heavy team is forward Antonio Wolf (6-2, Sr.) who averaged 6.1 points per game and sets the tone for the team on the floor. “Antonio has steadily improved over the last three years. He is a great passer, and his shooting has improved immensely. The entire team looks up to him and he makes them better with his presence. He doesn’t say much but when he does, the team listens,” said George. Returning to patrol the paint will be Tyrus Teehee (6-4, Jr.) who put in 9.4 points and grabbed 6.0 rebounds a game in 2021.

“He came on last year and made a big splash and eventually earned a starting spot and has continued to improve,” said the Stilwell boss. The fire of the team is embodied in Colina Ramirez (6-0, Sr.). “He is the most competitive guy on the team who plays bigger than his size and is fearless,” said George. The Indians also expect major contributions from Cole Kimble (6- 0, Sr.), Keller Hitcher (5-11, Jr.) and freshman Brayden George.
