Stilwell’s Kinley Catron – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Edna Sells-Century 21

By Scott Metz

For Stilwell High School senior soccer player Kinley Catron, determination has helped her achieve success.  Kinley plays both forward and midfield for the Stilwell Lady Indians soccer team. Kinley also plays football.

To get to where she is now as a player Kinley says has taken lots of effort,

“It has taken hard work, dedication, and going 110 percent at every practice.”

In regard to a highlight of playing soccer, Kinley stated,

“A highlight for me is looking up at my parents after every goal.”.

In terms of representing Stilwell, Kinley stated,

“It means the world to be able to represent the school and the community. I hope I represent them well, and it is always nice to have the community come out to the soccer games and support us.”

Asked who motivates her as an athlete, she emphasized the importance of faith in her life and her answer was simple.

“God motivates me. My biggest role models are parents, and my youth pastors. They have all taught me the importance of working hard in everything and giving all the glory to God.”

There are two teachers that have impacted Kinley in her time at Stilwell High.

“Mrs. Biederstadt and Mrs. Calico have had a huge impact on my life. I truly thank them for being there and supporting me in everything I do.”

For an opponent Kinley enjoys beating the most, Kinley stated,

“I would say it is always fun beating Westville, but in my four years I have only gotten to play them once.”

Off the soccer field, Kinley is very involved in other extracurricular activities at Stilwell High School including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, yearbook, and student council.

Faith, family, and humbleness are all a key part of Kinley’s life.

“I would not be anywhere without God, my family, youth pastors, and friends. I am so thankful to everyone who has supported me throughout my four years playing Stilwell High School soccer,” said Kinley.
