Brayden Northington: Tahlequah’s Powerhouse Pitcher
Brayden Northington, a senior at Tahlequah High School, isn’t your average student-athlete. His journey as a standout pitcher and first baseman for the school’s baseball team is a nod to his unwavering drive and the support of those around him.
“For me, motivation comes from the drive to get better every day,” Brayden shared emphasizing the relentless pursuit of improvement as his driving force.
When it comes to role models, Brayden looks no further than his parents. “My parents would have to be my biggest role models because of all the sacrifices they’ve made throughout my life and all the things they do for me,” he said, underscoring on the impact they’ve had on shaping his character.
Reflecting on his academic journey, he highlights the impact of Mrs. Walker, his freshman English teacher, who provided crucial support throughout high school. “She helped me with any work I needed throughout high school and anything else that I might be struggling with,” Brayden recalled.
Brayden’s commitment to success is evident in the time and effort he’s invested in his athletic pursuits. “The main thing it has taken to get to where I am today has been time. You have to put work in to get something out; you can’t just wake up one day and decide you’re going to be good,” he noted, shedding light on the dedication required to excel in sports.
Among the highlights of his career, Brayden cherishes the victories over Bixby and Bishop Kelley, but beating Muskogee holds a special place due to personal connections. “Beating Muskogee has always been fun to me because I have played with a lot of their guys in the past,” he shared, underlining the deeper significance of certain victories.
Looking ahead, Brayden is excited about his plans to play college baseball. “I plan to go play college baseball after high school but I’m not sure where yet,” he said, setting his sights on the next chapter of his athletic journey.
Representing Tahlequah isn’t just an obligation for Brayden; it’s a point of pride. Having lived in the town his whole life, he understands the honor and responsibility that comes with donning his school’s colors. His legacy will undoubtedly endure, leaving an lasting impact on the school and community he’s proudly represented.
