Tahlequah’s Grace McKee – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by Tommy Nix Auto Group

Grace McKee is a dynamic senior at Tahlequah High School who epitomizes leadership and sportsmanship. Grace is a role model of perseverance and determination due to her incredible path in cheering and soccer.

Since the tender age of five, Grace has been honing her skills on the soccer field under the tutelage of her father, who doubles as her coach. “My dad has been my soccer coach since I started… I really just want to make him proud,” Grace shared, reflecting on the profound influence of her familial bonds on her athletic journey.

Rooted in a family of soccer enthusiasts, Grace draws inspiration from her three brothers, all passionate players themselves. “My brothers… are always helping me grow as a player,” she noted, highlighting the supportive environment that fuels her passion for the game.

Amidst her athletic pursuits, Grace finds a guiding light in Stacy Grooms, her former soccer coach turned vice principal. “She pushes me to be my best every day and she has truly made me who I am today,” Grace acknowledged.

For Grace, success in sports is a testament to hard work and a resilient mindset. “The hours I have spent at the field or in the gym after practice have shaped me into the player I am,” she remarked, emphasizing the importance of dedication and perseverance in achieving one’s goals.

Reflecting on her memorable moments, Grace recalls a pivotal soccer game against Wagoner during her sophomore year. “This game made me realize that it is a team effort and made me fall back in love with my sports,” she reminisced, cherishing the camaraderie and resilience that define her team.

As she embarks on her collegiate journey, Grace’s dedication to her craft shines brightly. “I am attending Tulsa University with a cheer scholarship, and I can’t wait,” she shared, her enthusiasm palpable as she prepares to take the next step in her athletic career.

For Grace, representing her team and community means everything. “There’s nothing more I want than to make them and my family proud,” she expressed, underscoring her commitment to leadership and excellence as she guides her team forward.

In Grace McKee, Tahlequah High School finds a true champion—a leader whose unwavering spirit and dedication inspire those around her, both on and off the field.
