Will Talburt, a freshman at Tahlequah High School, is making a name for himself as a multi-talented athlete, excelling in both football and baseball. Talburt, known for his prowess as a quarterback in football and his versatility in baseball, shared his insights into his journey as a young athlete.
“When I step onto the field, I’m driven by the will to improve daily,” Talburt explained, reflecting on his motivation. This determination finds its roots in his admiration for the legendary Peyton Manning, whose relentless pursuit of excellence continues to inspire him. “Peyton Manning’s dedication to improvement resonates with me. I aim to embody that same spirit in my games,” he shared.
Throughout his athletic pursuits, one figure stands out as a source of motivation and support. “Coach Brad Gilbert has been incredibly encouraging. His guidance has been pivotal in my development,” Talburt expressed gratefully, shedding light on the influential role his coach has played.
In both football and baseball, Talburt’s pursuit of success is unwavering. “Success is the ultimate goal, and that’s what I strive for and play for,” he asserted, emphasizing the significance of hard work and dedication in achieving his ambitions.
When it comes to baseball, Talburt finds his thrill in tournaments, cherishing the camaraderie and competition. “My highlights have always been baseball tournaments. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of competing at that level.”
While his sportsmanship is evident, Talburt also acknowledges the underappreciated players, particularly highlighting the role of second basemen. “Second base players don’t often receive the credit they deserve. Their position demands skill and precision, similar to that of a shortstop,” he noted, showing appreciation for the less acknowledged roles in the game.
Looking ahead, Talburt has his sights set on continuing his athletic journey in college, aiming to pursue athletics while representing his school and community with pride. “After high school, I plan to pursue athletics in college. It means a lot to me to represent my school and community at a high level,” he concluded, signifying his commitment to both his sport and his community.
