Austin Palmer is a senior at Henryetta High School where he is a member of the varsity baseball team and an active member of the FFA chapter.
It was in middle school when Palmer first got involved with FFA. Palmer said he just wanted to try something new.
“I first got into FFA when I was in eighth grade. There was no specific person that encouraged me, it was just a new program that our school offered at the time, so I decided to take it,” said Palmer.
During his time in FFA, Palmer has enjoyed many of the opportunities the FFA has to offer. This year he is serving has chapter vice president.
“I enjoy most going to competitions and competing against other students in the state. I have competed in several different CDE events and current hold the office of vice president. I used to show in the performance steer show at our county show, but I no longer participate,” said Palmer.
Also a member of National Honor Society, Palmer finds the time to play basketball and baseball for Henryetta.
“I have loved playing baseball since I was young. I enjoy being able to play with my classmates and friends. I have made many good memories throughout the years that I will be able to look back on. I also play basketball as well,” said Palmer.
After graduation this spring Palmer plans to attend OSUIT and earn a degree in electrical instrumentation.
