EDITOR’S CHOICE

These are the top seven players in the Muskogee Area hub selected by position as chosen by VYPE editors.

QB: Geral Washington – 5-11, 190, Sr. – Midway: Recorded over 3250 yards total offense plus 41 touchdowns including 31 touchdown passes while totaling for 2500 yards passing in 2020.. Could play at every level.

RB: Dontierre Fisher – 5-10, 200, Sr. – Checotah: A three-time VYPE Top 100 pick has multiple D-I offers. Fisher has more the 3000 yards rushing in his career including 1645 yards and 23 TD last year.

WR: Khelil Deere – 5-11, 175, Sr. Eufaula: A sure-handed receiver who totaled 1110 yards receiving with 14 touchdowns, Deere has the quickness to take it the distance. With D-I offers including Tulsa, Deere looks to prove his talents again in 2021.

OL: Omarion Warrior – 6-4 315, Sr. – Checotah: Size, strength and agility lets Warrior dominate on the line of scrimmage. 

LB: Xavin Lackey 6-1, 230, Sr. – Vian: A two-way standout for the Wolverines, Lackey owns D-I offers including Iowa State and Memphis after totaling over 200 tackles during the last two years. 

DL: Devin Whitfield – 6-0, 215, Sr. Muskogee: The aggressive play of Whitfield, which resulted in 88 tackles in 2021 including 11 stops for loss with nine sacks will be key for the Roughers defensive scheme in 2021.

DB: Isaiah Givens – 6-1, 190, Sr. – Muskogee: Givens earned the “Rougher” position after making 103 tackles in 2021 as well as 12 pass break ups and two fumble recoveries in addition to playing tailback on offense.

FAN’S CHOICE

Based on fans votes in online polls, these are the top seven players in the Muskogee Area hub selected by position.

QB: Geral Washington – Midway:  The energizer for the Chargers who has the athleticism and work ethic to take Midway to a run for the Class C title.

RB: Xavin Lackey – Vian: The desire of D-I college recruiters to bring strength and quickness to the running game at the next level will be the power of the Wolverines ground attack in 2021. 

WR: Callen Park –6-1, 180. Sr. – Warner:  An experienced receiver that not only can catch the ball in a crowd but also lead downfield blocking to add prowess to the Eagles ground attack.

OL: Grayson Gaddy – 5-10, 240, Jr. – Hilldale:   Considered to be the strongest player in a Hornets uniform, Gaddy, also a wrestler, will be a key performer in both run and pass blocking for Hilldale’s offensive scheme.

LB: Brock Butler – 6-1, 185, Sr. – Checotah: The talented athlete for the Wildcats has the size to create bone jarring tackles and the reactions to cover receivers sideline to sideline.

DL: Cason Albin – 6-2, 215, Sr. – Hilldale: The aggressive play of the Hornets defensive end resulted in 86 tackles including a Class 4A best total of 31 stops for loss.

DB: Callen Park – Warner: The two-way starter will be relied upon for pass coverage as well as closing with quickness to defend the run.
