Behind the 15-strikeout performance from freshman Zoie Griffin, the Wagoner Lady Bulldogs rolled to their first regional championship in more than a decade with a 9-1 win over Stilwell to advance to next week’s Class 4A Super Regionals.
Griffin was near perfect throwing 89 strikes on 129 pitches while allowing just two hits.
Griffin’s performance in the circle got big bat productivity as Maya Crenshaw, Tyler Edwards and Adryen Coker power pitches out of the park to secure the Wagoner victory.
The 15 strikeouts brings the season total of Griffin to 306 while posting a 0.962 ERA with a 44-percent strikeout ratio of all batters faced as Wagoner opponents have been checked by the strong armed freshman to a .146 batting average with Griffin in the circle.
Wagoner is now 20-10-1 on the season and needs just two wins to advance to the Class 4A state championship tournament.
