OFFENSE

S – S – S…for the Beggs Golden Demons that means Seniors + Speed + Strength = SUCCESS.  On the heels of reaching the Class 2A semifinals the last two years, head coach David Tenison has plenty of cause for excitement this fall. “We have more experienced linemen and more experienced seniors than we’ve had here in three years that’s resulted in off the chart enthusiasm and team chemistry,” replied Tenison. Oklahoma State University commit C.J. Brown (5-11, 180, Sr.) a repeat VYPE Top 100 choice, returns to the explosive backfield after totaling 1,529 yards and 19 rushing touchdown in 2020 to push his career stats to 3,655 yards rushing with a combined 59 trips to the end zone. Red Martel (5-11, 205, So.), Wendell Harrelson (5-8, 145, Sr.) and Ryan Grayson (6-0, 160, Fr.) are also ticketed for highlight reel results in the backfield. “CJ’s strength, balance and speed make him difficult to bring down,” said Tenison. “As a group, these four have the vision, agility and athleticism to get tough yards as well as take it the distance,” Tenison said. Ayden Hamilton (6-1, 170, So.) is set to engineer the offensive unit at quarterback and will have go-to-targets Jeremiah Olden (5-9, 150, Sr.) who averaged 13.6 yards per catch and Kyron Grayson (6-1, 170, Sr.) at wide receiver as well as tight ends L.J. Roberson (6-2, 265, Sr.) and Maliek Bogard (6-0, 230, Sr.) in addition to Brown to spread and stretch the field through the air. Size and brute strength is abundant on the offensive line thanks to the play of Charlie Mason (6-3, 315, Sr.), Kaden Stanton (6-6, 310, Jr.), Isaiah Fletcher (5-11, 265, Sr.) and Evan Kemp (6-2, 280, Jr.), Chance Jordan (6-1, 295, Jr.) and the added muscle of Wyatt Nail (5-10, 205, Sr.). “Altogether this group of kids provide us multi-formation options,” said Tenison. “We want to get the ball out quick and utilize our speed.”

DEFENSE

While the offense is explosive and productive, the “No-Fear” defensive lineup is equally aggressive and with speed is able to get 11 players to the ball in a hurry. VYPE Top 100 selection Maliek Bogard, who holds multiple D-I offers is a disruptive defensive end and will be joined by L.J. Roberson to protect the edge in the Golden Demons 4-2-5 alignment while Chance Jordan solidifies the defensive front along with Stevie Holsey (5-10, 255, Sr.). Derieon Johnson (5-10, 215, Jr.) who charted 80 tackles last year will unite with Red Martel and Braylen Davis (6-0, 165, Jr.) at linebacker playing in front of the secondary filled with hard hitting speedsters including C.J. Brown, Kyron Grayson, Jeremiah Olden, Wendell Harrelson (5-8, 145, Sr.) and Dalton Hastings (5-11, 160, Sr.). “We want to be gap sound and find the football so that we get all 11 to the football as quickly as we can. Our team speed gives us the ability to chase the football,” said Tenison.

Is this the year the Golden Demons raise the gold ball as season’s end? “Our seniors played in the championship game as freshmen and have reached the semifinals the last two years,” voiced Tenison who begins his fourth year as head coach. “We’ve got a chance and our seniors are ready to lead us to the top.”
