Avrie Ford is a sophomore at McCurtain High School where she is a member of the FFA chapter and a three-sport student-athlete.

Ford first got involved in FFA in her first year of high school.

“I first got involved in FFA my freshman year. It was Mr. Boggs the FFA teacher who
encouraged me to join FFA,” said Ford. As a member of the FFA chapter, Ford said she has enjoyed being part of several activities not showing animals.

“I enjoy attending Colt Conference, the convention, the state fair and attending livestock shows. I’ve been involved in livestock judging and I am serving as an officer,” said Ford.

Also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the softball,
basketball and cheer teams, Ford said FFA has taught her some great lessons and skills she will use for the rest of her life.

“FFA gives you good leadership skills. You meet new people from different schools,” said Ford.

The sophomore said there are a lot of people who have influenced her in FFA and in sports.

“I have a lot of people that influence my life some of them being my sisters and my parents they always help me and give me the right advice. Mr. Boggs has influenced me to become stronger in my FFA career and to be a better student. coach Schleckeway has also influenced me into becoming a better leader and a better athlete,” said Ford.

Being around her teammates and competing is something Ford truly enjoys.

“Learning to work better as a team and becoming a leader also being able to play for a school and community that always supports their small-town school. I feel like I can count on my teammates they always help me strive to be better on and off the court. It’s even better when you get to play with your sister because you have a better connection on the court,” said Ford.

After high school, Ford plans to attend college but has yet to determine what she would like to study.
