NSU’s Allyson Arnall (Tahlequah) – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by Northeastern State University

Home is where the heart is…and for Northeastern State University cheerleader Allyson Arnall, home includes chasing her dreams by sharing her talents with others while embracing the spirit of the RiverHawks.

A 2022 graduate of Tahlequah High School, Ally chose to stay close to home and to continue her smile and enthusiasm as a cheerleader at NSU.

“I’ve been involved in competitive cheer for more than eight years, including high school at Tahlequah. I cherish spending time with my family that now has expanded because of being here at Northeastern,” said the freshman member of the NSU cheer squad. “The game atmosphere is definitely loud and proud and I like how our team gets involved with more than just cheering at football and basketball games. The opportunity to give back to the Tahlequah community is something special to me.”

Part of Ally’s giving back includes spending time volunteering off campus.

“I’ve been working with the Boys/Girls Club at Heritage Elementary,” Arnall said. “The kindergarten kids are so much fun. Their stories make me so happy and laugh every day.”

Spending time with the young kids is just one way that she lives out the definition of leadership.

“Leadership is all about setting the example for others to follow, and at the same time remain coachable. Most importantly by helping others in their time of need.”

With thoughts of a future career in physical therapy or becoming a dental hygienist, Ally has yet to declare her major but knows that NSU offers her the chance to fulfill her dreams of cheerleading on the collegiate level while working on her education.

“It’s a faster pace schedule, but I like the feel of things at NSU. It’s just a super homey feel,” she explained. “My instructors have been great in communicating and answering all my questions, even going beyond the everyday class time.”

When asked why choose NSU, Allyson Arnall didn’t hesitate and answered with a smile.

“For me, and for anyone wanting to feel at home, NSU is a place where everyone is helping everyone,” she said. “It’s a place where everyone not only wants to see you find success but will do whatever is needed to help you reach your goals.”
