Tahlequah Cheer

The Tahlequah cheer squad is being led by six seniors in 2023-24 – Lyndee Davenport, McKenna Swim, Grace McKee, Callee Hartsoe, Brooklyn Osborne and Jalynn Kitchel-Dry.

“Our MVPs are our seniors,” said coach Mandi Stafford, who has nine new members on the squad this year. “They are focused, determined and love the sport of cheer. We have six seniors and they have cheered all four years.”

Tahlequah worked nearly all summer to get itself best prepared.

“We held tryouts in March. We had our first team practice on May 1st. We only take two weeks off all summer,” Stafford said. “We attended ECC camp where we won camp champs, Best Stunt group and Best Pyramid. We are looking forward to the competition season and supporting our teams this year on the sideline. This team is most looking forward to Performance competition and football season under the lights.”

Swim, an All-VYPE nominee, is what Stafford calls a true leader and has vast experience.

“This is Mckenna’s fourth year cheering for Tahlequah High School. She is a true leader. She loves the sport of cheer with everything she has. She is always working hard to be better and help her teammates be better,” Stafford said.

“Mckenna loves cheering on Friday nights for football. She also loves competitive cheer. She has been on the Twist and Shout Adam and Eve team that won World’s Back to Back. Her experience is very valuable to our team.”
