Tahlequah’s Tabor Robinson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Northeastern Health System

Tabor Robinson had a standout career on the soccer field for Tahlequah.

Robinson, who was a four-year starter, could play any position for Tigers’ head coach Greg Hall.

“He was a four-year varsity player, team captain and potential all-state player,” Hall said. He can play any position and was an integral piece for our team. The most impressive thing about him is that he is very disciplined. He excels academically and that has also transferred to the soccer field, he was a great example for our younger guys.”

Robinson played soccer for 15 years and plans to continue his career at the University of South Carolina Sumter. He helped lead the Tigers to a 4-9 mark in 2023.

“As an individual I thought I’ve done my best to showcase myself, and as a team, I believe we’ve come so far and shown people we can play even though the score line doesn’t show it,” Robinson said.

“I plan to attend USC Sumter, a JUCO in South Carolina to play soccer and plan on going into the dental field,” added Robinson, who also had interest from Oral Roberts, Central Arkansas and Rogers State, among others.

Robinson, who has been inspired by a legendary performer from a different sport in basketball great Michael Jordan, is at his best as a defender.

“My strength has definitely been my work ethic and defensive ability, and the thing I improved on the most was my leadership and attacking skills,” he said.

“I try to model my game after Jordan, even though it’s two different sports, because his work ethic was unmatched.”

Robinson recalls the first goal he ever scored as his favorite high school sports moment.

“Definitely starting my first game as a freshman and scoring in that game, showing everyone that I’m up next,” he said.

Robinson’s favorite aspect of being a student-athlete at Tahlequah was having the opportunity to play in front of all of his friends. He enjoys hanging out with his friends during his free time.
